Bart de Kater (clarinet/basset horn) graduated Cum Laude for his master degree at the Conservatory of Amsterdam where he studied with Herman Braune, Harmen de Boer and Arno Piters.

As a musician he likes to make the connection to music theatre. So he worked with theatre companies such as ‘Het speeltheater Holland” and the “Toneelmakerij”. Besides playing classical music Bart is also active in folklore music. He plays the Kaval, which is a traditional Bulgarian Sheperd flute. He has furthermore worked with renowned ensembles like "het Nederlands Blazers Ensemble", with which he toured through Jordan, Israel, Turkey, Poland and performed in the New Year’s concert in the Concertgebouw. Furthermore he regularly plays with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. With the Calefax Reed Quintet he participated in the production of their jubilee album and project CalefaXL.

An avid sailor, Bart likes to sail across the lakesnearby his hometown of Monnickendam.
